Great pics.I was at HHS '66-'69.Great school. The "Cricket Pavilion" doubled as the boot room.Or was there another building further down by the pond?
Truly wonderful pictures.I had some great times in the 3 years that I was there.
Welcome, Neil to the forum!
You're right about the pavilion doubling up as a boot room, here's a link which covers the old shed!

Fire away with any other questions you may have, there are several here who may have been your contemporaries!
Did you go on to Glengorse?
Good morning Mike.
When Hydneye closed I went down the road to Claremont until 1974.
I will never understand how such a truly beautiful building could be demolished. Always found lunchtime amazing looking north across the fields to Brede,Udimore and beyond.
I remember many names and faces so here goes:-
Massingham brothers.Roberts tribe 1-4.Fitzgeralds 1,2and 3.Taylor,Glenister,Dismoor,Dinsdale,Hedley,Gow,Liddiard,Logan and the Murray brothers.Loads more faces but names elude.
Teachers I remember were:-Mr and Mrs Morrish(Who lived along the road from me).Mr Hilder,Mr Smith,Miss Reynolds.
Wonderful 3 years at HHS.
Regards
Neil

That pic with the scorebox on the side. This was the one down by the bottom pond the more easterly one I believe.

I'm not sure what happened to Simon Hickes, Neil.
His dad was a pretty big local architect, with Stevens and Partners I think!
Claremont is still thriving of course, but I think it is the only school known to us back then, which is! Broomham in Guestling is now Buckswood, but we never played them in my day.
I'm afaid all the names you mention were after my time, except for Mr and Mrs Morrish and Mr Hilder. Miss Reynolds went on to Glengorse, (or did you tell me that)?
And yes, that was the far field pavilion!
The Roberts tribe are all still going strong. I was #1 (Stuart) - now working as a self-employed entomologist, Neil was Roberts ii (my first cousin). He is a big cheese in the waste recycling business, Ian (my brother) was Roberts iii and he is an equity partner in a firm of solicitors in London, and Chris (Neil's brother) was Roberts iv. Not sure what he does but he lives in Fareham
To save me going up in the roof to check the old mags, Stuart, can you enlighten me on the years you mention please?
In my day we only ever got to a number four name - a 'Fancy iv' I think, but others may disagree...
Welcome anyway, and bring all your family with you, because this blog is just for all of us!
Best wishes to you too!
Mike.
