The Trainin saga...

Just recently, this HHS record has been noticed by yet another Alumnus, Peter Trainin!

Peter was at Hydneye for the years up to Christmas Term,1958, and is recorded as going on to Stowe in 1959. I remember him quite well, but was more a contemporary of John, his younger brother, and we often turned up in the same dorm! John is on the far right of the picture 'Challenging the chess master', which is in the 'Prep School Life' post in December 2013. Lovely guy!

Sadly, John died a year or so ago, but I do well recall him singing 'Tit Willow', from 'The Mikado', one year, probably in one of the furious music competitions we used to do! John was also a promising boxer, as a fly-weight, and is recorded with Emett ii, and Black ii 'hammering each other cheerfully round the gym in the friendliest spirit imaginable'! He was also a good cricketer; I think a spin bowler, but may be corrected there.

Another part of the magazine for 1959, shows that Peter won the Cricket prize of an Alan Oakman cricket bat, with J.A.Barnes, (I suppose they had one each, not just half a bat...), and was a Prefect in his last term. He was also a co-writer with K.A.Young and M.G.C.Graham, on an article about Circus Sylvester and Circus Maximus, the latter well beyond my capabilities

Many of Peter's recent comments appear on my post 'That poem', but there will be others lurking around no doubt! He tells his own story in his own Biopic and I'm trying to get it onto this site, but having a problem with the transfer!

Peter, if you're listening, just post here from now on and we'll all see it!
